Andy Murray the new Fred Perry
->
Andy was through to the semi-finals today with an impressive display of tennis. The British hope won in straight sets against a former number one Ferrero. Andy shown more skill with serves than his last night game he complained that the roof increased the humidity and he wasn’t able to grip his racket when the roof was used.
The roof is new this year but it has changed the way Wimbledon feels as games can now be carried on if it rains and even into the night. Murray was one of the first players to experience the roof he said it took some getting used to and complained that he wasnt informed soon enough about the conditions he would be playing on. He still however went onto win 3 sets to 2. The new roof did however go down with the public very well with tennis fans relishing the late games played well after dusk a first in Wimbledon history. Many think that the roof has changed the Wimbledon game for the better with future games being allowed to continue into the night as long as it takes. This will help players so they no longer need to split matches up and continue games the next day if to late or the weather is bad. The roof can be installed in half an hour making the center court at Wimbledon into an indoor court.
Murray won in straight sets in his game today his serves were devastating he won the first two sets easily. His back hand let him down during the beginning of the game but he pulled it back and shored up his backhand in the third set. The pundits said this games against Ferrero would be more difficult however he sailed through the match. He now has two days to recover and get ready for his match in the semi finals.
Murray is the first British player to threaten the Wimbledon finals since Fred Perry early in the century. Andy now sports the Fred perry label the player is making significant income from promotional material and advertising and if he wins he can only be in demand more. His brother was also playing today in mixed doubles. The sight at center court was electric but if he wins Wimbledon he can be guaranteed to be written into British Tennis history alongside a significant winning payment.
